After the infamous slap of Chris Rock by Will Smith, Smith has apologized publicly to both the Academy and to Rock himself. It seems to contradict his Oscar acceptance speech where he mentions his, and Richard Williams' need to "protect his family". Is it more virtuous to be morally righteous, adjusting your moral code as situations arise, or to be morally resilient, standing by your moral code even in the face of what other people may deem "wrong"?
