Can your will overpower your belief?

As Muhammad Ali once stated "the will must be stronger than the skill". While this is true as it pertains to will vs. skill, does it remain true in the instance of will vs. belief? Is it possible for a person to will themselves to do or become something against their beliefs? JC and B-Mic Roc OD.
